The purpose of a Dive Hood is to keep your head warm and prevent the heat from your body from escaping quickly in colder waters. There are four types of Diving Hoods: Scuba Beanie, Bibbed Hood, Dry Suit Hood, and an Integrated Hood System. Scuba Beanies are great for warm water diving only because they are typically a thinner Neoprene or Lycra. Bibbed Hoods are the most common type of hood because they can be used in warm or colder waters, come in a variety of thicknesses, and provides adequate protection covering your head, neck and part of your face. Dry Suit Hoods are pretty much the same as the Bibbed Hood minus the bib. Integrated Hood Systems are wetsuits with the hood built in.
