Rowley Shoals

"Everyone knows Australia's Great Barrier Reef. But I'd heard whispers of another reef system on the western side of the continent, about 160 miles off the coast of Broome, that gets a lot less traffic. Seeing the topside attractions — rainforests, ancient rock art and powder-white sands — was almost as cool as going underwater." - Sue Thomas

Around Rowley Shoals you can expect to see Giant Bumphead Parrotfish, Tiger Sharks among thousands of other sea creatures. Since about 1977 charter boats based from Broome began operating deep sea fishing and diving expeditions to the reefs and seas around. Since this time interest in the area has grown considerably and the Rowley Shoals has achieved a reputation for offering some of the best diving in Australia. The reefs are among the most remote and pristine marine areas in the world.
